Something needs to be done regarding the state of Scottish Football at the moment, attendances are down, there is no money in the game, a real lack of quality players, teams falling into administration, shocking media coverage and to be fair to them at times they are flogging a dead horse. The split has been the best offering that the SPL has come up with and although it has given some mid table teams something to try and play for it is really just a token gesture to hide from the big decision that needs to be made. I propose a 16 team SPL!
With the likes of Livingston, Dundee, St Johnstone, Gretna etc. all with the capabilities of most SPL sides we are in as good a position as ever to make the necessary changes. There will be a loss in revenue from Old Firm games but I would hope that if the clubs make this leap of faith a sponsorship deal will be made to match the ambition. Something needs to be done now to show we have a product to be proud of and start to produce some real Scottish talent again.
