'24' Commercial Interruption

On Tuesday November 11th and Tuesday November 18th, Global interrupted 24s final act with an unscheduled commercial break, therefore destroying the shows real-time format. From the start 24 has relied on its real-time presentation as a way of telling its story and building tension throughout its episodes. It is the element which makes 24 stand out from all other shows on television. Every commercial break is supposed to appear after a count out and return with a clock counting in, the time discrepancy between the two clocks allowing for the equivalent in advertising time. Global has chosen to ignore this allotment. They have opted to give a shorter commercial break in the first act, throwing off the real-time clock, only to catch up in the final act by inserting a commercial break directly in the middle of the action. This is unacceptable. Global is essentially re-editing the show to fit their needs, whatever those may be. We, the viewers, cannot see the justification.
Our recommendation is that the commercial break be taken out of the final act of the show and that the first commercial break be extended to its appropriate length, just as it was when airing on CH over the past two seasons. We do not feel that this is overly demanding as it does not cut down on advertising time and it allows for the viewers to watch this program uncut and uninterrupted. As it stands, we are only being aggravated by this unnecessary cutting and are directing our hostility towards the advertisements that are interrupting the show.
What we are requesting is that Global keep this show in tact; that they show as much respect and appreciation for the excellent work and talent that has gone into making this show a critical and popular success.
