2nd proposed Walmart in the city of Duluth

Petition Against A Second Wal-Mart Super Center in the city limits of Duluth, GA located at the intersections of Chattahoochee Run, Peachtree Industrial and Sugarloaf Parkway.







Whereas:







1. We oppose the proposed Wal-Mart Super center at the intersection of Chattahoochee Run, Peachtree Industrial and Sugarloaf Parkway.







2. This store will have detrimental effects on the surrounding community, including increased traffic, crime, harm to local businesses, and a negative impact on neighborhood integrity, and







3. An increase in local traffic and harmful emissions will negatively affect environmental quality and the physical health of neighborhood residents as well as the ability for public safety and







4. As citizens of Duluth, GA we are concerned about the long term implications of this retail development on the economic and social health of our community and







5. An average of six "serious or violent incidents" police reports were reported per Wal-Mart store in the year 2004. The police terms "serious or violent incidents" are incidents such as rape, attempted murder, and kidnapping and







6. Most crime incidents occur outside the Wal-Mart store.







We request that the city of Duluth, GA act to prevent the construction of a second Wal-Mart store at this mostly residential site.
