A CALL FOR YORK UNIVERSITY TO STOP USING EGGS FROM CAGED HENS ON CAMPUS
We, the undersigned, ask for York to join over 150 universities and colleges in North America and stop using eggs from caged hens on campus. We ask York to switch to more humanely produced eggs, such as certified organic, free-range or free-run. Entire countries, such as Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands, have banned the use of barren battery cages for egg laying hens, as will the entire European Union in 2012.
York is one of the most progressive universities in North America. We urge you to take the lead and help end this unnecessary suffering of animals.
