I understand that the City of Ottawa has not signed any contracts for the development and management of Lansdowne Park.
I wish to see an open competition for the development and management of Lansdowne Park to get the best value for the taxpayer.
I understand that it only takes the City of Ottawa 90 days to run an open and competitive process.
I wish to see the 150 year public tradition of Lansdowne Park continued, and in a manner respectful of heritage, local small business, sports, recreation, arts and culture, local farmer's, and to see the park developed in a manner that keeps the park beautiful, vibrant and as a place for families and tourism.
I do not wish to see Lansdowne Park privatized with commercial towers, shopping center and private homes.
I wish to see the City of Ottawa cancel the current sole sourced process for the development of Lansdowne Park and immediately start and open process.
I understand that the City has already set the policy for the development of Lansdowne Park including; a Stadium, Green Space, Retail/Financial Model and a Management/Governance Model.
All of these criteria can easily be put out for tender and open competition.
An open competition will declare a winner by December 2011. This will allow the required 30 month construction timeline (including delays)and assure the park will be ready for CFL, NASL and the FIFA World Cup by Spring/Summer of 2014.
Taking 90 days for a competitive process will provide the Mayor and Council complete information on Lansdowne Park.
On a decision that will affect this special site for generations to come, this is the very least the Mayor and all members of Council should be willing to endorse.

We MUST have a fair, transparent and open bid, which allows consideration of other bids, as well as alternative visions. Lansdowne could be a world-class site drawing visitors and neighbors alike - not just another suburban shopping mall.

After the court challenge exposed irregularities in information given to council tendering the process should have automatic. Anybody who blocks a more open immediate process should expect to be investigated between now and the next election.
