We oppose cuts in the education budget
Less teaching staff means larger class sizes, less contact with teachers, and a bigger workload for tutors. Several departments have a limit of 12 students for tutorials, which are already being exceeded.
We oppose tuition fees
Universities in the UK plan to make up for a cut in government funding by introducing tuition fees for Scottish and European students and increasing tuition fees for English, Masters, PHD students. This is a way of making students pay for the economic crisis, which we are not responsible for!
We oppose the privatisation of campus services
Many students work in catering and cleaning, and are currently employed by the University. Any privatisation of these services will see their pay drop substantially, decrease in the quality of the service, and may reduce the number of jobs available for students!
