Accountability and Courtesy by Moderators

As members of the Backstreet Boys community on LD, we are seriously tired of the tyranny that is Leezard, WhodaThunk and Yikes.

Threads are consistently closed without a reason post. We are aware that this is NOT a requirement, but is it not a courtesy to take 30 seconds to post WHY a thread is closed? Yes, sometimes they are obvious, but other times, this is not the case. If a moderator does not have the time to post this brief reason, possibly even a pre-composed direction to the TOS, do they really have time to be a good moderator?

Certain posters come in and are CONSISTENTLY disrespectful to not just certain posters, but to the whole board, yet even when posts are reported, nothing happens. The person does not change nor are they sent on vacation. This falls true for posters who consistently harass other member specifically as well. Arent rules supposed to be enforced across the board? Not just enforced helter skelter?

As posters on the board, we are not allowed to publicly question the moderators authority. Is this Nazi Germany? North Korea? Are we to be shot in the streets if we have a problem with the way things are handled? This is absolutely unacceptable to us. If we have an issue, we shouldnt have to take it up with a faceless admin who we never hear from and when we do its a booming voice from on-high. We should be able to discuss it ON the board.

We are asking for either a change in leadership or a change in moderator procedures. We are asking for common courtesy from our leaders who are not, by any means, leading by example on a consistent basis. We are asking for consistency in moderation. When told by a moderator in response to a private message asking why a thread was closed I don't think I even closed that one, I can only imagine that someone felt it was getting out of control. just hours after it has been closed, shows how much time and care these moderators give to moderating the Backstreet Boys forum. If it was so horrible, wouldnt she REMEMBER closing it? And I might be mistaken, but I do believe there is a moderator log where she would be able to RESEARCH if she had or had not in fact closed this thread.

As advised by WhodaThunk when challenged in PM I think we're done here. If you have a problem with the board, take it up with the administrators. here I am, taking this to the administrators, with the backing of fellow members of LiveDaily.

Change takes time, we realize this, but this change needs to happen before even more people are turned off of this site that was ONCE a lot of fun.
