Actors for the new "Battlestar Galactica" television series for Fox Network (U.S.)

We, the fans of the original 1978 sci-fi television series "Battlestar Galactica" are signaling our sincere hopes that original cast members (and their characters) are considered for regular roles in the new "Battlestar Galactica" pilot/ongoing series from Studios USA/Fox Network/Sci-Fi Channel in 2002.

Specifically, we wish to see the return of:

RICHARD HATCH as Apollo.
DIRK BENEDICT as Starbuck.
HERB JEFFERSON, JR. as Boomer.
ANNE LOCKHART as Sheba.
LAURETTE SPANG as Cassiopeia.
JACK STAUFFER as Bojay.
TERRY CARTER as Tigh.
GEORGE MURDOCK as Doctor Wilker.
SARAH RUSH as Rigel.
...and other original cast members wishing to participate, who can join in either the new "Battlestar Galactica" pilot episode and/or ongoing series.

We strongly believe that people, like RICHARD HATCH, who led a revival effort for "Battlestar Galactica" with *strong*, *visible* fan support worldwide, are highly desired for the new "Battlestar Galactica" pilot/series.

We, the fans of the show, will support a new series which remains true to the original, particularly with cast members like HATCH, BENEDICT, JEFFERSON, LOCKHART, RUSH, CARTER, STAUFFER and others.

To ignore these actors (and their characters) is ignoring your core audience of viewers who will support and help make it a successful, profitable production for you. We understand that certain elements will change; we do NOT wish to see any of these characters ignored, displaced or rewritten or recast.

We believe that the original cast has a place alongside new characters and situations. We do not wish to see mere cameo appearances, but active, regular roles/participation by these original actors.

This petition was started on September 1, 2001 on "Battlestar Galactica Fan Appreciation Day", a fan-based event celebrating 23 years of the original television show -- and paying tribute to everyone who has believed in the "Battlestar Galactica" series and supported it throughout the years.

We appreciate your consideration for our genuine requests. We hope the return of "Battlestar Galactica" is a successful one, particularly with these actors back in their roles.
