DeviantART has been a reliable and easy to use website for years. It provided an open minded and mature community in which to recieve constructive criticism and feedback from around the world, and a way to put your art on the web without complicated copyrights and rule happy administration. But it's come to the attention of many deviantART users that they are being annoyed into subscribing by large, obtrusive ads in the middle of galleries and favorites galleries of nonsubscribing users. It's understandable that a website needs funding to survive, and ads are a way of bringing that in. But if deviantART were having financial troubles, we would hope that they would ask the users for help, instead of berating them with ads. Some users see two, or even less thumbnails in a gallery before they are interrupted by large, bulky ads and they must move to the next page. Advertisements in general tend not to bother us, but ads in galleries, amongst an artists work? That is going too far. DeviantART has even lost subscriptions because of these ads; those who wanted to sign up, and those who stopped subscribing out of protest. Please, deviantART, consider the fallbacks to these nonsensical ads, and act.
