We, the undersigned, are against the current settlement package between the Africville Genealogy Society and all levels of government named in the settlement.
In view of the fact that there was no legitimate consultation or vote between the people of Africville and the Africville Genealogy Society and that the settlement was the product of a backroom deal, we believe the people of Africville were forced to accept a settlement that had been imposed upon them.
Consequently, the settlement package is unjust and must be declared invalid. Therefore, we demand that a new settlement be negotiated between the aforementioned government officials and the residents and descendants of Africville democratically.
