The undersigned, parents, students and staff of the European School Brussels II request that a stop is put to the growth of the school population immediately!
This school was built for a nominal maximum capacity of 2500 students and an absolute capacity of 3000. We have now reached more than 3030 students and the forecasts indicate that we will very likely reach and even exceed 3100 next year.
All this has direct negative effects on the students' and the staff's security and health, complicates logistics and may also adversely affect the school's ability to provide pupils with a good education.
We are not ready to accept this situation anymore and demand that the Board of Governors, the Secretary-General of the European Schools, the European Commission, the Central Enrolment Authority and the school administration take immediate action to reduce the population of this school so that in the academic year 2010/2011 it stays well below 3000 students.
The actions taken should have tangible results, namely a sustained reduction of this school's population over the next two to five years, until it reaches a maximum level of 2800 students, this level not to be surpassed again.
