WATER BILL :OPEN LETTER TO ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY EXECUTIVE MS. JANET OWENS
In support of Emily D.Joyce (West County News, Sept 7th) letter on the same subject whereby the AA Countys Dept of Public Works levies $ 6.00 as a new account maintenance charge, we the undersigned homeowners and residents are also questioning this unfair levy of an additional charge on our water bills.
Is it not the inherent obligation of a county government to maintain accounts of payments and disbursals without having to charge a special fee for book-keeping? It boggles our minds that a County Government would levy a charge without prior notification and adequate justification to the taxpayers.
In this age of computerization, account maintenance costs in most industries have declined dramatically. If Ms. Owens does not act to rescind this unfair levy or not provide an adequate justification for this add-on, we are willing to consider other organized challenges to what appears to be an unfair decision on the part of Ms.Owens administration.
Petition-on-line is a free website and as soon as we have several hundred petitions, we will be happy to download them and personally present them to Ms. Owens and seek a resolution to this problem or convey an explanation rendered by Ms. Owens to you through a note in the West County News. I hope that every homeowner in this county will sign this petition. Thank you very much.
