Arabian Gulf is the correct name

We are writing to you in response to the petitions that have been launched by various Iranian individuals and organisations calling upon Google to rename the Arabian Gulf as the "Persian Gulf".
We are shocked by this brazen insult to the Arab and Muslim people by a small group of Iranians who want to politicise the issue and create friction between Arabs and Iranians.
The Arabian Gulf is the correct geographical term for the gulf that separates the Arabian peninsula from Iran and Pakistan. The term "Persian Gulf" was mistakenly used by some Western geographers unfamiliar with the territory surrounding the gulf and its peoples.
The people living along the coastlines of the Arabian Gulf are all Arabs. Even in Iran, the people are known as "Bandari Arabs" (i.e. port Arabs) and speak Arabic as their mother tongue (despite Iran's efforts to eradicate their language and replace it with Persian).
We would therefore take strong exception to any attempt to destroy the Arabs' cultural heritage by changing their geographical names.
