Ballymun needs local shops; to buy from, to work in and to drive the local economy.
Following a multi-billion euro investment Ballymun village centre has been renovated and the residential area has been redeveloped.
The significant issue remaining is retail. Ballymun main-street still has empty shop units. Local stores continue to close down. Local jobs continue to be lost.
With the imminent closure of Tesco the future is now uncertain for the local shopping centre which has been the heart of the area for over 40 years.
We’re calling on you to sign this petition to demand that NAMA and Dublin City Council prioritise the renewal of retail in Ballymun; to save local shops and create local jobs.
Continued uncertainty will only cause further damage to the local economy and stifle the creation of local jobs.
