Ban the Toledo/Maumee Rib Off.. Northwest Ohio

This petition is to ban the United Health Services, Inc. Annual Rib Off.

Granted that the 2006 event has already passed this petition is for the years to come.

This event was WONDERFUL in Downtown Toledo. It drew people from all over to come taste ribs from various companies. When the first weekend of August came you knew to go downtown to get some delicious ribs. Many years ago it was free to attend. But because I suppose they wanted to get more money, they blocked off the entrances and charged people $2 to get in. Of course Thursdays was always a free day. After they said "it was getting too crowded and there wasnt enough room for all the vendors" they decided to move it to our neighboring city of Maumee, Ohio at the Lucas County Recreation Center. Why would you do that? You are making lots of money, people are loving the ribs, the atmosphere of the crowds of people drew you to the event, why would you change? Then to another city. Thats wrong!

Another reason of this petition is that I had a friend go to the Rib Off, August 10-13. She told me everything was alright but the scamming of the price to get in. It was advertised for $3 to get in. The person in front of her showed their ID and they were a Maumee resident so he got to pay $1. When she got to pay she showed her ID and had to pay the regular $3. THAT IS WRONG! Everybody should pay the right price. Wherever you come from.

Please support the "Ribs on the River" event. It took over the Rib Off's weekend of the first weekend in August. It is in Downtown Toledo, Promenade Park where it should be.
