Ban Wal-Mart along Baseline Corridor

We, the undersigned, adamantly object to having a Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Wal-Mart Marketplace, or a Sams Club as part of our beautiful, revitalized Baseline Corridor. The City of Phoenix has been working long and hard to improve the South Mountain Village area and Wal-Mart is not the type of corporate citizen we wish to have in our community. Wal-Marts negative impact on local economies, track record of discrimination, sub-standard wages and unchecked growth are well documented. It is our belief that South Mountain Village could easily support a specialty store such as Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or Sprouts. We ask that you do whatever you can to keep this area growing and developing in a positive manner, which means revoking plans for a Wal-Mart on the SE corner of Baseline and 24th Streets and preventing plans for one anywhere along the Baseline Corridor.

I could not have stated the petition to ban Wal-Mart any better. I refuse to shop there, but would love any of the other suggested stores. Target suits the needs of anyone in the area and Wal-Mart would be a waste of land.
