We the undersigned do hereby request that the Conservative Government of Canada reinstate the EnerGuide home-renovation program. Energy conservation is good for the pocketbook, good for the environment, creates local employment and stimulates research and development.
More than 230,000 Canadian households benefited from the EnerGuide program. Under the program the average home cut its heating bill by $750 annually and reduced its greenhouse-gas emissions by about 3.9 tonnes each year.
The EnerGuide home-renovation program received international acclaim for the quality and utility of its work and for pennies per Canadian provided a crucial function that becomes only more important with every passing year.
