After the recent announcement that Trader Joe's would be opening a store in Nashville, TN by the end of 2008, Chattanooga's residents want to make it clear that we believe our city to be an ideal location for the second Trader Joe's to enter the state of Tennessee.
There is a large and increasing desire among Chattanooga residents for a grocery store which offers wider varieties and selections of organic, ethnic, and exotic foods than the current stores. Many residents of the city drive to Atlanta on a monthly basis and make a Trader Joe's stop every time. Also, there is a very large Seventh-Day Adventist population (nearby Southern Adventist University is the most populated undergraduate institution in the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists) who would benefit greatly from your vegetarian-friendly selections.
Chattanoogans especially would appreciate Trader Joe's commitment to the community and the environment - our city was recommended as one of the best environmentally friendly places in the world to visit on vacation by the CBS Early Show, and is one of the Top 10 Healthy Places in the Southeast for longevity and enjoying a productive retirement lifestyle, according to Retirement Lifestyles magazine. Chattanooga was the only city in Tennessee to make the Top 10 list or the honorable mentions in the magazines December 2007/January 2008 edition.
