Broadband for Aunk

Unlike some rural areas which do not have broadband within a large distance, broadband is available as little as one mile away. It would be possible for BT Group to upgrade the exchange so it could reach a further mile, at relatively little cost.
Within this small area are a number of businesses, the majority of which are farmers. The internet plays a large role in a business, and the lack of broadband effects efficiency and profits in what is already a difficult time for farming.
In this modern day, everyone should be entitled to broadband. News has come out recently that BT Group are investing 1.5billion into fibre optic cabling so specific areas can get faster broadband, whilst they are apparently completely ignoring those in rural areas without broadband at all. The internet is constantly being made for faster internet connections, and dial up speeds are not sufficient for effective usage, such as online buying, banking, working and other necessities. Currently broadband speeds in the UK (8MB and below) are fast enough for internet usage, excluding large downloads such as games and movies, and yet still BT Group spend most of their money improving this field.
We would be satisfied with any speed of broadband, as this is far more efficient than dial up, plus it allows us to make telephone calls, again an important part of a business. Dial up is losing us money and business, and it is time BT Group did something about it. Eventually the whole country will need broadband, so why are BT Group doing nothing about it?
If you think everyone, including the occupants of Aunk, should be entitled to broadband, please sign. As well as that, please could you take the time download the document below, print it off, sign it and send it to BT Group at the included address. Every bit of support helps.
