Brokeback Mountain: Collector's Edition DVD Discrepancies

In October of 2006, fans of the movie Brokeback Mountain were delighted to find out that there would be a release of a Collectors Edition DVD in January, 2007. The new content on this edition was said to be all new bonus features, never-before-seen footage and highly collectible postcards.
Fans were later disappointed and saddened to find out that the so-called never-before-seen footage was merely two new featurettes on the film A Groundbreaking Success and Music from the Mountains. Fans across the world were shocked to also find out that there would not be commentary nor would there be deleted/extended scenes on this supposed Collectors Edition DVD.
This edition of the DVD does not match up to what should be labeled a Collectors Edition, at all. This Collectors Edition is barely different from the original DVD released in April of 2006.
We, the fans and supporters of this film would like a fair deal when it comes to producing a so called Collectors Edition. We are not concerned with postcards or freebies, just the never-before-seen footage that we all were expecting by the description that was given to us. We have supported the film since the beginning and we are still doing so; to reward us with a Collectors Edition DVD is wonderful, but not if it's the same as what we already have. Most of all, we would like some answers as to why this DVD is so sparse in its features.

Brokeback Mountain is possibily the best film of the last few years, and its certainly got one of the most passionate fanbases I've ever seen. The fans deserve a Collector's Edition that matches up to the film itself and rewards their dedication.

Personally I feel that this film is too important not only to its fans but to society as a whole, to have its legacy lessened by the half hearted effort this Collectors Edition represents. Usually when a Collectors Edition is released there is more to it

deleted scenes, retakes, promotional interviews, tent scene with better lighting - something that would make me want to purchase a second DVD & that would create renewed interest in the most tragic love story I have ever seen or read

I had been looking forward to the DVD for many months and I am very disappointed by it's lack of new material. I would cheerfully hand over my hard earned cash for a well put together DVD of BBM but at this stage, I must reconsider where my dollars might
