Campaign For Peaceful Protest

We the undersigned do hereby call upon the Rt Hon Theresa May MP and the Government to maintain the innate democratic right of its people to freedom of assembly and peace protests as laid out in Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights that was brought into domestic law in October 2000.

We hereby call on the Rt Hon Theresa May MP and the Goverment to open a public and independent investigation into the Metropolitan Police forces use of Section 60 of the Criminal Justice Code (blanket stop-and-search procedure) to pre-emptively arrest people who are taking part in a peace protest or whom suspected of planning to take part.

We also call upon the Goverment to review the Aggravated Trespass laws and their use to prevent peaceful protest on public land in what appears to be a crackdown on the right to protest.

We hereby call on our elected representatives to work injunctions with civil rights groups to redefine the laws around peaceful protest to defend the peoples most basic right of democracy.
