Change Blizzard's End User Licence Agreement

Due to unfortunate problems stemming from Blizzards End Users License Agreement and views on their games being played at LAN Parties without being financially compensated THE PLAYING OF BLIZZARD GAMES HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY BANNED BY ALL SECON.US AFFILIATED GROUPS AND EVENTS. This is unfortunate as many players do not understand why games they have already purchased cannot be played without blizzard being compensated by those supplying the network connection. This not only hurts the LAN parties which host event by discriminating which games can be played it also hurts Blizzard by allowing players to loose interest in their games and it keeps a vast majority of new players from the experience of blizzard games by not allowing them to see first hand the quality and playability of their software.

According to the EULAs paragraph C sub section ii, exploit the Program or any of its parts for any commercial purpose including, but not limited to, use at a cyber cafй, computer gaming center, or any other location-based site. Blizzard may offer a separate Site License Agreement to permit you to make the Program available for commercial use

What does this mean to you? If a group of friends have a LAN party where money exchanges hands for the rental of space to play and all party members pay money towards the rental of the room then said friends must purchase a license from blizzard to play blizzard games even though they have already purchased said games. This stems from the fact that money has exchanged hands where Blizzard software is in use.

We believe that Blizzard does not realize that most LAN parties, even large LANs, barely make enough money to allow the coverage of expenses and most LANs host their parties for the fun of it and do not expect to make profits of Blizzard software. This may be a misinterpretation of Blizzards EULA and their position on organized groups playing their games in general but Blizzard has on many occasions showed their lack of interest in explaining their EULS when asked to do so. We hope this petition will show Blizzard that we, the community, want to play the games we have paid for and do not believe we should be told where and when we may play. At the very least we believe that the EULA needs to be explained in laymens terms so we will know what Blizzard considers appropriate use of their software. For more information please see Blizzards website. Any helpful information about Blizzard's view of non-profit LANs can be posted here. We are terribly sorry for this situation as we love blizzard games but as of the present we have no choice.
