What is Grade Point Average? It's a weighted average of all of the course credits you have completed. There are two types of grade point averages: phase and cumulative. The phase GPA is the weighted average of your grades for a given 10 weeks. The cumulative GPA reflects the academic progress you have made since you started college.
Let me show you the response I got when inquiring about my seemingly low GPA
As sent to Sue Wiese the registrar at the Sunset Hills, MO Campus from the computer programmers who set up our database.
The first thing to remember is that our classes are weighted. In the diploma program, the core class is 11/12 of the phase average and Gen Ed is 1/12. In the AOS program, the core is 9/12 and the Gen Ed is 3/12.
Secondly, the quality points are just numeric equivalents (figured to reflect the weighted aspect of the classes) assigned to each of the numbers used to grade students.
Let me show you an example. Our grade scale shows that an 89 grade is equal to a 3.4 and a 96 grade is equal to a 3.8
A student receives an 89 in AGE in a diploma class
89 = 1 x 3.4 = 3.40
Same student receives a 96 in CORE in a diploma class
96 = 11 x 3.8 = 41.80
89 = 1 x 3.4 = 3.40
96 = 11 x 3.8 = 41.80
12 45.20
45.20 divided by 12 = 3.76 GPA for the term
If this student had earned these grades in one of our AOS programs it would be as follows:
A student receives an 89 in AGE in a diploma class
89 = 3 x 3.4 = 10.20
Same student receives a 96 in CORE in a diploma class
96 = 9 x 3.8 = 34.20
89 = 3 x 3.4 = 10.20
96 = 9 x 3.8 = 34.20
12 44.40
44.40 divided by 12 = 3.70 GPA for the term
All right lets look at simple mathCause grades shouldnt be figured by Quality points. Which say to meOur college isnt up to par so we assign quality points because you couldnt make it at a University Sorry thats just my opinion.
Vatterott uses a 4.0 GPA scale. Thus a perfect 100\% is 48 points divided by the 12 credit hours = a 4.0 GPA.
Basic math says
1/12 of your grade totals 4 credit points
11/12 of your grade totals 44 credit points
So lets figure that GPA and since our GPA is always 3.78 and never a 3.7 well include the hundredths in our REAL MATH.
A student receives a 89 in AGE in a diploma class
89\% of 4 = 3.56 1 x 3.56 = 3.56
Same student receives a 96 in CORE in a diploma class
96\% of 4 = 3.84 11 x 3.84 = 42.24
89\% of 4 = 3.56 1 x 3.56 = 3.56
96\% of 4 = 3.84 11 x 3.84 = 42.24
12 45.80
45.80 divided by 12 = 3.81 GPA for the term
A student receives a 89 in AGE in a diploma class
89\% of 4 = 3.56 3 x 3.56 = 10.68
Same student receives a 96 in CORE in a diploma class
96\% of 4 = 3.84 9 x 3.84 = 34.56
89\% of 4 = 3.56 3 x 3.56 = 10.68
96\% of 4 = 3.84 9 x 3.84 = 34.56
12 45.24
45.24 divided by 12 = 3.77 GPA for the term
This is what has gone unnoticed, till now.
I thought I would ask the ACCSCT about my concern with Vatterott College. I wanted to know what they specify, if anything, about the grading practices an accredited school usesthis is the reply I got
The ACCSCT Standards of Accreditation do not specifically address grading policies.
The Standards regarding satisfactory academic progress most directly related to grades, which can be found in Section VII (B) Substantive Standards, Standards of Accreditation at www.accsct.org under standards of accreditation state:
1. The school has published in its catalog a written policy for assessing satisfactory student progress related to grades and attendance. Grades, work projects, externships, etc., are measured against stated educational objectives that are explained clearly to students. This policy must address performance standards and grading and be applied consistently.
2. The school establishes grading criteria to assess a students academic progress through the training program. At a minimum the school reports academic progress to students at regular intervals (e.g., phase, module, mid-term, term, quarter, semester, etc.) and evaluates the minimum grade point average that students must attain at those intervals. Students must attain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or the equivalent in order to be eligible for graduation. Students must attain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 1.0 at the end of the first 25\% of the program and a 1.5 cumulative grade point average at the midpoint of the program.
If the program, however, is not organized to allow academic progress to be reported at these specific intervals, students must demonstrate academic progress at other appropriate established intervals during the program such that the student reasonably can be expected to attain the minimum grade point average required for graduation.
If the school uses a grading scale other than the traditional 4.0 scale (e.g., letter grades, percentages, pass/fail) the school must adopt comparable progress standards.
In response to a complaint such as yours, the compliance issues would probably be concerned with the schools disclosure and application of its grading policy rather than the policy itself.

Well lets just say Quality Points is not explained anywhere.
Every 10 weeks my grade continues to be lower then it should. I will pay $60,000 for grade LESS then what I EARNED!!!!
Will you fall in line and pay for a BAD GRADE?
