Dear Amazon:
We the undersigned users of the new Kindle 2 respectfully submit this petition and ask you please increase the contrast of the new Kindle.
As it stands right now, the text is hard to read in most light situations. The background is relatively dark and the text is not black. The first Kindle had the perfect amount of contrast and we consider it to be a step backward to have to struggle to read now.
Many of us feel that this could be a deal-breaker and that we would rather return the Kindle 2 than try to read on it with difficulty.

I love the K2's new features, but the contrast issue is a real problem for me. The K1 was noticeably easier to read. I've noticed that an alt-g "refresh" improves contrast, but it only works on the page you're reading. As soon as you go to the next page,

some books are almost unreadable in smaller font sizes. i never had this problem with the K1.
