As Citizens Against Government Exploitation, We THE UNDERSIGNED, request that Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, The Federal Bureau of Investigation, and The United States Attorney INVESTIGATE STATE SENATOR BIAGIO BILLY CIOTTO OF THE 9TH DISTRICT FOR HIS POTENTIAL INVOLVEMENT IN THE TOMASSO BID RIGGING CONTROVERSY.
SENATOR CIOTTO IS CHAIRMAN OF THE STATE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE AND HAS RECEIVED LARGE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM KEY MEMBERS OF THE TOMASSO FAMILY AND SEVERAL OF THEIR SUBCONTRACTORS. IT IS OUR BELIEF MR. CIOTTO ABUSED HIS POSITION OF POWER TO STEER A NO BID CONTRACT TO TOMASSO CONSTRUCTION, TO BUILD THE $37 MILLION DOLLAR BRADLEY FIELD PARKING GARAGE.
According to THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE, A Committee on TRANSPORTATION shall have cognizance of all matters relating to the Department of Transportation, including highways and bridges, navigation, aeronautics, mass transit and railroads; and to the State Traffic Commission and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Senator Ciotto voted to approve $100 million dollars in no bid contracts that eventually benefited his largest campaign donors including contractors who performed work on the Connecticut Juvenile Training Center, located in Senator Ciottos district.
In a recent statement, Senator Ciotto admits to accepting these political contributions and has stated publicly he is not corrupt for accepting the above mentioned campaign donations. WE THE UNDERSIGNED REQUEST THAT A FORMAL INVESTIGATION BE CONDUCTED TO CONCLUDE WHETHER OR NOT ANY IMPROPRIETIES AND SPECIAL TREATMENT IN AWARDING THESE CONTRACTS TOOK PLACE.
