We feel that an anti-suicide group is crucial to the mental health status of students attending Hollidaysburg Area High School. Too many suicides have occurred recently, and many feel that this needs to change. A support group that allows students to talk freely about their emotions to professionals and other students will help this problem greatly. We hope to come in alliance with professional groups that can help the members of this group talk to people thinking of or about to commit suicide. Our goal is to decrease the amount of suicides from three in two years to none in general.
We will either attend the school board meeting on August 11, 2010 or will support the cause of the attendees. We hope that during the voting session on August 18, 2010, the HASD school board will accept the project of creating such a group.
