Re: Directive to Limit K-6 PTA Fundraising

As the parents of students in the Babylon Elementary and Babylon Memorial Grade schools and members of the community that these schools serve, we must express our discontent with the recent directive that limits the Fundraising activities of the K-6 PTA. These Fundraising activities have been enacted and maintained for the purpose of enhancing the educational and social experience of the children in the Babylon Schools. Any cut in our current Fundraising activities will have a severe impact on the quality and quantity of programs we can offer to our students. In addition to our concern about limiting K-6 PTA fundraising, is the Administrations decision to leave other fundraising intact, specifically those programs that DO NOT benefit the children of Babylon Schools or the larger Babylon community. While we do not question the integrity of these causes, in these difficult economic times, it is unreasonable to ask families and community members to give excessively to outside causes when the needs of Babylons children will be difficult to meet in the 2010-2011 school year.
Those signed below would respectfully ask that you reconsider this directive for the continued benefit of our children and our schools.
