Dear Mr. Bush,
Many of my friends and family have learned of the petition to ban Anime, the japanese cartoons. The descriptions that the petitioners have put on the anime shows are wrong. Love Hina is not about rape, it is about a boy trying to find the girl that promised to be with him if he could get into Tokyo University when they were small children. The anime Nana is about a girl named Nana, in a rock band following her heart to find the man that left her to be in a new band. The anime Fruits Basket is about a girl named Tohru Honda who turns a family's hate into love. The anime Othello is about a girl with an alternate personality who becomes a rockstar and falls in love with the guy of her dreams. This is pretty much how anime are. Love, dreams, and comedy. Of course, there are anime with fights, but there are regular American cartoons with fighting. Some American cartoons are worse than anime, yet are shown more often on telivision.
My friends and I just ask you to believe us and give anime a chance, because anime is really the only thing a lot of people have, including my sister and I.
