Weve all heard this slogan before and it makes us think, if I have the ability to save many lives just by donating blood, than what are we waiting for?

You may be hesitant to donate for many reasons and thats why Im here to help you make the world a better place. If your questions or concerns arent answered in this petition then please dont hesitate to call Canadian blood services at

What makes a good candidate?
-Are you between the age of 17-71
-Do you weigh over 110 pounds
-Are you in good health
-Do you feel well
-Has it been 56 days since my last donation

Temporary deferral for donating:
-Someone whos had dental work in the past month
-Someone with a illness
-Someone taking certain drugs/medication
-Someone with low Hemoglobin counts; minimum (12.5)
-Someone whos had a tattoo or piercing in past 6 months
-Someone who is pregnant
-Someone whos had recent surgery
-Someone with recent vaccinations
-Someone at risk of having contacted HIV

Indefinite deferral for donating:
-Someone with HIV
-Someone with certain diseases
-Someone treating diabetes with insulin
-Someone with false test results

You may be wondering who needs/receives this blood? Well every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. That someone could be a loved one, a friend, a co-worker or even you.
