Dear President Casteen,
The University of Virginia is one of the only schools in its class that continues to refuse to offer domestic partner benefits to its faculty and staff. Though other universities in every region of the country began offering these benefits more than ten years ago, U.Va. continues to maintain this insidious vestige of discrimination.
We, the undersigned, pledge not to donate any money to U.Va. in any form until the University begins treating its gay and lesbian employees with equality by offering domestic partner benefits.
Please understand that we are taking this action because we want U.Va. to be the best possible university it can be but we want it to be moral. Please join us in helping U.Va. finally reach true equality.
