Enable the PSP's IR port'

We, PSP (Playstation Portable) owners would like Sony to release a Firmware Update with an application that enables the original PSP's IR (Infrared) Port.
We hoped that Sony would have enabled the IR Port with the previous Firmware Updates, but unfortunately that never happened.
Since we support the use of the Official Firmwares use on the PSP, we would like to have the possibility to use and therefor transfer data via IR using the PSP, to compatible devices without the need of running downgraders as they can be very risky to us psp owners and Sony themself as the psp would stop getting sold due to financial problems!
Homebrew applications have been released that allowed the PSP's IR port to be enabled, leading a great part of the PSP users to downgrade, thus risking to brick their PSP systems, and use Custom Firmwares, just to have the advantage to use their PSP's IR Port.
By enableing the IR Port on the Official Firmware, a lot of PSP owners, if not all!, would Update and run the Official Firmware.
We, the supporters of the Official Firmware, would like to benefit of the built-in IR Port also, without the need of downgrading, risking the chances of bricking our PSPs!
Who wouldn't like to use their PSP as an Universal Remote Control for TV, cable, Dvd players, and transfer data to compatible and enabled IR devices like PC's, Phones, etc?
Hoping that this along with the number of signatures that will come will convince you to enable the IR port in a future Firmware Update.

sony said they had no use for the IR port @ the moment so no petition will get them to find a use for it but il sign yo_mans petiton and yo_man its spider pig me bro sed sumin to phinal and got me banned but i can now view the site but not sign in

well sony why would you add something so usefull if you wont even use it!!! there are 100's of uses for IR even if it only becomes a tv remote its better then nothing:P

This is something that would be very cool, but the PSP interface is clunky and needs serious overhauling anyway.
