End the failed FAA Security Policy.

The Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills California. Long Island Rail Road. Columbine. Salt Lake City, Utah Tuesday, September 11, 2001. All of these have one thing in common: The victims closest to the killer were obeying laws that prevented them from fighting back effectively. 'Victim Disarmament' laws make more and more places killing zones, where a killer can do as he pleases without fear of retribution. The FAA's security process has now been shown to be more of a 'victim disarmament' project than a procedure to actually defend the passengers. The revised FAA security process is merely a more invasive version of the same-old-thing, without even bothering to plug some of the more obvious holes in the system. The current news interviews from airline employees decrying the sad state of even the improved security should be a flag that the system does not work, and cannot be made to work. It is time for these laws to end. Let responsible citizens defend themselves. In every state where 'shall issue' laws for concealed weapons have been passed, violent crime rates have dropped. The arguments of people shooting each other because of road rage did not come true. The argument of people shooting each other due to air rage is equally unlikely. The myth of an airliner suffering explosive decompression from one bullet hole is just that - a myth. The myth that Concealed Carry permit holders will shoot the wrong person is shown to be a myth as study after study shows that the police are five times more likely to shoot the wrong person at a crime scene than a permit holder is to pull the trigger. Roughly two percent of the population of Florida have CCW permits now. These people are your neighbors, your co-workers, your friends, they guy at the other table in the restaurant. They are not foaming at the mouth, gun-crazy killers. Read through the news stories of the past year, and you'll find they are people who saved lives during crimes. A person holding a Florida CCW permit is trusted by the governments of 17 states to carry a deadly weapon, and know not to use it unless there is no other choice. Why doesn't the FAA trust them as well? The undersigned ask that the FAA and the airlines change the current policy that causes law-abiding and safe citizens to be disarmed, while providing a level of protection that fails to prevent terrorists from killing innocent people. We would like the creation of a Federal Law or Executive Order which allows valid CCW/CHL permit holders to carry their weapon of choice in the 'sterile' area of airports, and aboard aircraft.
