We, the undersigned, feel that there is a lack of initiative taken to
organize a composting system for the residents and especially commercial
venues. We ask that the city of Montreal, provide a solution to the amounts
of organic wastes that the citizens of Montreal require disposing of. The
cities of Halifax and Toronto have developed very advanced composting
services that include the pick up of organic wastes and are sent to a
composting facility. According to Eco-Quartier 20\% of the waste produced by
the average Montreal household is kitchen waste and by composting one can
reduce the amount of organic matter that is sent to landfills. With the
concern of global warming growing on a daily basis we request that the City
of Montreal finally make it possible for their citizens to become a part of
the solution.
