Fall of a Stadium

The Nungambakkam Corporation Indoor Stadium once was home for seven disciplines of sports: Boxing, Body Building, chess, Judo, Karate and Table Tennis. Slowly and surely all the sporting activities was restricted and sports clubs were closed / pushed out of this Indoor Stadium which is Opposite to the "GoodLuck" Preview Theatre in Lake Area, Nungambakkam,Chennai, Tamil Nadu. All this happened so that a small Corporation / Municipal office(Circle VI) can be formed there. Now none of the sports exist there. The last to be chased out were the Boxers who were earlier forced to a small portion to practice their sports. This portion too was taken over and rebuilt as "Toilet" for the Corporation Councillor.



My Name is B.P.Suresh. I am a Boxer. I had been the College as well as the Madras University Champion and TamilNadu State Champion....representing the TamilNadu State several times in national level Competitions and have been the Silver Medallist in the All India Federation Cup Boxing Championship 1991.....All due to this Stadium which has been the place where i learnt, practiced and perfected my sports. I am no more a resident of this city, having shifted to kolkata but it gives me deep pain to see the takeover of this Nice Indoor Stadium and conversion of the same as a Corporation Office. Can anything be done and the Sports Stadium Reclaimed???
