IMPORTANT: **This is a school project** F.A.R.M which stands for ‘Free Animals fromRestriction and Mistreatment’ consist of a team of normal people who love animals. We’re a non-profit organisation that works mainly against farms as we wish to free farm animals from cruel farming practices especially caging to mass-produce animal by products for the human demand. F.A.R.M is trying to contact the public all around New Zealand using a visual protest by attracting the attention of TV news programs such as TV3 News, One News and possibly even Close Up and/or Breakfast. It would also be great to have an interview with the Herald about our actions and why we are planning to do this. We believe this will spread awareness of battery chicken. Three of our members are going to all sit in a human-size version of the battery cage for a month. It will be uncomfortable but it emphasises on what it’s like for chickens to be in the same situation. We also believe that the outcomes, such as dizzy spells and leg cramps from lack of room and movement, of this protest will largely impact the public. Our humans-sized battery cage will be located in the busiest city of New Zealand and also the busiest street in the city – Queen Street. This is because many people including new tourists arrive everyday will be able to see what is happening and will question our act. This will educate these people about what we’re eating and where it came from which will hopefully encourage them to boycott against these battery farms or act to stop these practises by signing our petition as well as lobbying MPs with letters, in hope to change the law to protect these hens. Battery hens suffer from many, many things and would have until kept suffering until they had died which is usually when they are about a year old; a normal chicken would live up to 10 years. Suffering includes brittle bones because they aren’t able to exercise; this makes them unable to stand up properly. They are also forced to go through the cutting off the beaks to stop them from peaking each other to death in the crammed cages, loss of feathers and gain of red patches on the skin from continually stretching their necks through the bars of the cages to reach for food, stress, not enough nutrients due to no sunlight since they are pushed into artificial lighting sheds full of cages and fed hormones to make them lay eggs until they collapse. Not only are the birds suffering but would you like your eggs to come from an unhealthy looking birds that are feed with all kinds of medical junk to keep them alive and laying eggs? It has been proven that free ranged eggs are also better for us. It has been proven that free range eggs contain 2 times more Omega 3 and about 3 times more Vitamins A and E with lower levels of total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and Omega 6, also known as unsaturated fatty acids which the body finds harder to break down. HELP US BREAK DOWN THE CAGES. Free these birds. NEW ZEALAND ONLY PLEASE.
