Fight for Justice, Support Jane Doe

Jane Doe is a UCLA student. Last year, Jane was sexually assaulted on campus in her De Neve Plaza room. She was working on a paper due at noon when Chuwan Anthony, Jamar Dawson, and DeShawn Stringer entered her room at approximately 11:30 a.m. They were on a campus tour from Carson High School, but claimed they were Florida State football players who knew Tyler Ebell. Ebell told UCLA police he did not know them. They admitted to lying when they testified in court.

The three then proceeded to engage in sexual acts with Jane Doe. Jane said No repeatedly, but engaged in sexual acts against her will. The first person who entered her room is charged with forced rape and forced oral copulation. He left, then the other two entered and proceeded to engage in more sex acts. This was 10 minutes after Jane Doe first encountered them. Jane and the defendants agree that the acts happened and the time frame was short.

The defense says it was consensual because Jane didnt said no during the second encounter. You do not have to say no. Your behavior can show that the sex was not consensual. When your life is on the line, you will do whatever it takes to make sure you live. If someone holds a gun to your head and demands your wallet, youre not going to say no. Jane sustained physical injuries consistent with those of a rape victim. Physical evidence shows that the sex was not consensual.

We support Jane Doe for many reasons, including:
A jury should be fair. One of the jurors, 23-year-old teachers aide Nkechi Odili-Obi, said It's not so far-fetched to me that today a female would go and have consensual sex with three men after 10 minutes of meeting them. What IS far-fetched, then? After the trial, jurors called the District Attorney, admitting they felt bad because they were swayed by other jurors.
The defendants have a record. A previous case involved a sexual situation with one of the defendants. They lied about where they were from and who they knew. Stringer was charged with sexual battery for grabbing another UCLA students buttocks. Another students two-way pager was found at the defendants residence, and the defendants admitted to taking Janes cell phone and using it to make phone calls.
Janes actions were consistent with that of rape victims. After the incidents, she turned in two papers that day, Thursday of 10th week. If she didnt, she would have failed her classes. Rape expert Gail Abarbanel testified that rape victims don't always know what to do after they are raped. They go into shock and try to make things as normal as possible.
Common sense. Jane Doe was in the right place at the right time. She was in her room, finishing a paper due for class. These three were supposed to be on a campus tour, not sexually assaulting students in their homes.

The charges against the three defendants are forced rape, forced oral copulation (oral sex), burglary, and sexual battery (misdemeanor).

Based on the facts and physical evidence: this sex was not consensual; it was criminal.
