World Languages education, Arts, humanities.. are systematically denied the right to get grants because Students Government says that they are not academic works.
Our World Languages students, wanted a grant to go to the 56th French Congress to present a poetry in French that they had written. Students Government OFFICIALLY denied the grant because:
- Original French poetry is not in the criteria "creative endeavours and performances"
- The Conference is not a "University level work" (USF, UCF, FSU, UF professors will judge the work of all FL students!. Moreover, the French ambassador will be among them!
We are not the only ones to be denied grants based on shameful statements like that. The humanities suffer a lot from this discrimination.
It is not fair. We, humanities, are second class students.
