Respected Sir,

This pertains to the recently raised issue of screening companies for placement in general and to the petition seeking to ban Dow Chemicals from recruiting in our campus in particular. Surprisingly, we found that a considerable fraction of the signatories of the above mentioned petition were those who are not even eligible to sit for recruitment in Dow Chemicals.

We hereby request you to kindly take into consideration the views of the students and the faculty members of the concerned departments (Chemical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering in this case) who will actually be affected by any decision regarding this and do not merely find it convenient to pass a verdict on an issue that does not affect them directly. We believe that this reduced electorate exercising its franchise will do so with utmost sincerity and honesty after considering all factors related to the issue of placements as well as the process of screening companies.

We would also like to voice our sincere opinion that Dow Chemicals, which has already decided to go for campus recruitment at IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur, be invited here too for placements this year and it be left to the discretion of the concerned individuals whether they deem it correct on their part to sit for recruitment or not.

Thanking you,

Signed by all students (eligible for placements) who would like Dow to be invited to campus recruitment.
