We, the Students of Franklin College do hereby oppose the restrictions that have been imposed on sitting around the college buildings.
We feel that the refectory should not be the only place to sit and talk.
The College management must realise that not everyone wants to sit in the refectory as it is very loud and not everyone is comfortable with crowded areas.
We Propose that the college:
- Reviews all social areas.
- Considers opening up the Finance Area mini-refectory for day use.
- Considers repairing as many of the tables as possible in the Refectory.
We respect the fact that where some people sit is Fire hazards, but accusations of "Noise Pollution" are unjust. We will move if asked to. But we should not be barred completely. We agree not to sit in obstruction of all designated Fire Exits.
