Appeal for Minu's Freedom
On October 8th, a cultural activist and a migrant worker Minu (full name : Minod Moktan, from Nepal, age 38) was captured on his way to work and is now confined in Hwasung Immigration Processing Center.
Ever since Minu came to Korea in 1992, he was more passionate than anyone as a laborer, as a media activist in Migrant Workers' Television (MWTV), a multiculturalism teacher for children and as a lead vocal in a multinational rock band 'Stop Crackdown' for 17 years. His life and his actions were a ray of hope for migrant workers and was a very important link for Korea to become a truly multicultural society.
Minu loved Korea more than anyone, hoped that it would become a multicultural society which respects diversity and human rights, and has contributed greatly to it by multicultural activities. Minu's presence is a must for all in the Korean society that aspire to become a multicultural one.
We plead you to grant a special permit for Minu so he can reattain his opportunity to contribute to the development of the multicultural society and the Korean society as a whole.
