General Hospital Needs New Writers

To the powers that be,

We, the fans, have been watching General Hospital for many years, some since its inception. Although we know that TV shows will always change with the times, GH has changed for the worse with the current writing staff, and ever since Robert Guza Jr. was brought back as head of the show. Fabulous actors are being let go; and it has become blatantly clear that there are a few select actors who get daily coverage, while the others get hardly any airtime at all. This is isolating many GH fans that are losing interest, or are no longer watching at all. Every time there is a glimmer of hope for a great storyline for someone like Skye, Mac, Alexis, Cameron, Liz, AJ, theyre overlooked or ruined. And characters like the Quartermains are so rarely seen, theyre almost forgotten. Many fans are fed up with General Hospital being the daytime Sopranos. While Carly, Sonny, Jason and Courtney are fun for some to watch, this show should not revolve around them.

Another downfall for GH is their portrayal of women on the show. Where women used to have careers, friends and romance, now they are just objects for men to debate and fight over, like possessions. Why is it that the women can do no better than stab each other in the back, lie, manipulate, molest young boys, and have nothing to live for but the men in their lives? Its a horrible role model, and not very interesting to us modern day women.

The use of miscarriages is way overused, and an insult to women who have miscarried. This storyline is used all the time now; Liz, Carly, Courtney, whos next Em? Lydia? Im sure the writers can come up with better ideas than having women get pregnant, fall down stairs or into freezing water, and lose their child. The use of rape is being abused as well. The implied rape of Carly, Stefan almost raped Lydia, and the molestation of a young boy by Faith. We want better!

So, we the fans are asking that ABC hire new writers, or bring back the wonderful writers that created GH and made it what it was until a few years ago. We ask that ABC find a way to shape up this show, and bring back the adventure, romance, and intelligence or there wont be many fans left.
