We the undersigned ask for you on our behalf to press for Greyhoun Racingto once again be regularly held at the Cessnock Showground. For six years now there has been no Greyhound Racing.
There are many Greyhound Breeeders, Owners and Trainers and interested parties passionate to have Greyhound Racing back. Cessnock has the biggest, best and safest track in NSW, some would say in Australia.
The sport of greyhound racing is extremely well represented in the Cessnock and lower Hunter region, with numerous trial tracks, businesses dealing with education, training and kennelling of greyhounds. Not to mention peripheral businesses that benefit from the sport of greyhound racing such as veterinarians and pet food suppliers.
An outing to "The Dogs" at Cessnock showground could be promoted as a safe. inexpensive family night out. It could be pitched to tourists as another aspect of the Hunter culture and lifestlye. With proper promotion, the facilities could go far in paying their way, if not even turning a profit.
Please do all you can to bring racing back to Cessnock.
