Honor Joe Paterno At the Current "Beaver Stadium"

While we hold in the highest regard James A. Beaver, a former governor of Pennsylvania (188791) and president of the university's board of trustees, for whom the stadium is currently named, we feel the stadium would be better reflected with a name honoring Mr. Paterno. When the stadium was named in memory of Mr. Beaver in 1960, the capacity was 46,284. During the 400-victory Paterno era, The stadium has expanded by 60,998 seats. Its capacity of 107,282 makes it the second-largest outdoor stadium in the United States and we're certain this can be, at least in part, attributed to Coach Paterno's popularity.
If the governing bodies are not willing to rename the stadium itself, we suggest taking a route similar to that of the Florida State Seminoles, who named their home field "Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium" retaining the stadium name and honoring, arguably, it's most famous resident. Such could be adapted to be named "Joe Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium" in honor of Coach Paterno.
We respectfully sign to show our support for such a momentous tribute to a wonderful man, and the most successful college football coach of all time, Joe Paterno.
