I support Affordable Housing

Vibrant town centers and lively public spaces connected by a revitalized El Camino Real is a vision thats becoming reality in Santa Clara County. The Grand Boulevard Initiative has been gaining momentumcreating the links to housing, transportation, jobs, shopping, parks and schools along the Peninsulas main roadway. The transformation is the result of an historic collaboration between counties, cities, and numerous public and private agencies working to achieve sustainability and an improved quality of life for those who live, work and play along the corridor.

The City of Santa Clara has done an excellent job identifying appropriate locations to provide workforce housing for current and future workers. One of the identified sites, located on El Camino, is currently being considered for an Affordable Development that will provide safe, secure, and well-built housing to workers who are earning less than half of the Area Median Income. As wealthy as Silicon Valley is, there are still many jobs and vital services that these workers provide that are not high paying jobs. This site is ideally located for affordable housing because it has easy access to transit, is across the street from a park, and walking distance to grocery shops.

I am asking for something very simple, that will not only go a long way towards improving the quality of life in your city, but also provide safety and stability to those members of our community who are struggling to make ends meet.
