For starters, the disjointed and often erroneous remarks from American commentators make it tempting to simply mute the television.
The easiest way to improve American soccer broadcasting, however, would be to remove the continuous visual interruptions. Team lineups should be shown in a listed format prior to the matchs kickoff, as opposed to the American football style player profiles that take up half of the screen two minutes into the match. Furthermore, no one asked to see announcements or banners that take up a large part of the screen and completely cover up play development.
By years of experience, the rest of the world has developed a successful tradition of televising soccer, and there is no need for Americans to try to revolutionize the way the sport is broadcast. Unlike baseball and American football, soccer is a sport with continuous action, and should not be interrupted by the visual distractions described above.
