We believe that each radio station around our nation has the right to air whatever content it chooses; and
We believe that the requirement that broadcasters present opposing viewpoints on controversial issues of public importance, commonly referred to as the Fairness Doctrine, as repealed in General Fairness Doctrine Obligations of Broadcast Licensees, 50 Fed. Reg. 35418 (1985) is in direct violation of the first amendment right to free speech as found in our Bill of Rights; and
We believe that requiring radio stations to have a board of community advisors choosing what can and cannot be aired on local radio stations is also in direct violation of our first amendment right to free speech as found in our Bill of Rights.
Therefore we show our support of HR226, the Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2009 a Bill currently before congress, which if passed would prevent the Federal Communications Commission from repromulgating the Fairness Doctrine.
