When a Human kills a Human it is classed as murder so why isn't it the same when a Human kills an Animal?? Murder is murder no matter what the victim. Punishment Severity needs to be strongly increased regardless of whether the victim is a human or an animal. Take the case of Christopher Dennis Collyer of Lancashire. This so called human being hung the family dog, a Spaniel called Charlie, and left him to slowly choke to death, his emaciated hind legs barely able to touch the ground. Imagine how much pain Charlie was in, imagine how terrified and distressed Charlie was in, all due to the act of this absolutely sick individual. The most shocking part of Charlies story is the "punishment" set to the offender. Christopher Dennis Collyer was jailed for all of 24weeks and given a lifetime ban of keeping animals......that's it.
If Charlie was a young boy and not a dog, the punishment set would be much much different.
