We, the undersigned, would like to honor the fallen soldier, Sergeant 1st Class Jamie Scott Nicholas, a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha senior weapons sergeant who gave his life defending our freedom and country September 29, 2008 in Yakhchal, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Nicholas military education includes: the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Northern Warfare Course, Recruiting Course, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Course, Combat Lifesavers Course, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Warrior Leaders Course, and Special Forces Qualification Course.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, four Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, U.S. Army Recruiter Badge (gold), Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Special Forces Tab.

A new bridge was recently opened in Clay County, West Virginia, Jamie's hometown and the home of many of his family members. This bridge has yet to be officially named.

We are asking that the bridge formerly known as "Dundon Bridge" be officially named "The Jamie Nicholas Memorial Bridge" to honor our fallen hero and so that Jamie's name and sacrifice will be remembered many years from now.

Jamie Scott Nicholas--Gone but not forgotten!
