WE URGENTLY ASK YOU TO SIGN A PETITION FOR BETTER CARE OF THE ADULT AUTISTIC WITHOUT MEDICAL RESTRAINT
The concerned friends and family of Danny Muller, a thirty year old autistic adult, are presenting a petition to the Canadian Governmentfor a better care of all autistics and in special of the adults. FUNDINGAND PROPER SUPPORT IS NEEDED!
This petition concerns every parent of an autistic child who isplanninghis/her future. We must demand choices of how we are envision the livesourautistic children should live.
At the moment there is only institutional life in which the autistic isconfined, physically/chemically restrained or living in a group home that isalso a mini-institution with same excessive use of medications, whereis no closemonitoring of staff activity making it easy to abuse the autistic.
Other choices that we should have are to have our autistic children:
a.. The right to live at home with family members and specialized support, without the need of medications.
b.. Or, create a very special home in which 3 autistics with similarinterestswould live together with group support as well as individual supportfor 6 hours atday, again, without medical restraint.
We must ensure that our autistic children live a life free of diagnoses ofpsychiatric disorders that they don't have and a life free of psychiatricdrugs that they don't need, instead emphasis should be put on communication.
There should be specialized staff in communication skills willing tolearn how each autistic communicates. Funding is needed for these adultswho are caught in a "void" of the system. Please show yoursupport by signing and passing it on to friends and family
