Here is my full story,
I came to Canada on a work visa to work for a transport company based in Lethbridge, Alberta. I worked for them for a number of months but I decided it wasnt for me. The company was great, the people were great but my background (as I will tell you later) is so different from what my job was long haul truck driving. So after a number of months, I decided to get a job at a different transport company. Again, it was a good company and I didnt mind the work so much but again, after a number of months, It wasnt for me. I was getting depressed going to work and I hated being away.
However, during this time I was working for this second company, a friend was establishing his own business and asked me for my help. However if I agreed to help, I would not be able to get my PR (Permanent Residency) I decided to help because both he was a friend and it was something I felt passionate about. After a few month, everyone who was involved was let down. It was close to Christmas any people who worked at the venue didnt have jobs and never received pay for much of the work they did. The business went under. It was in December 2010 where the owner of the building let me take it over and re-open but with me managing it. I gave many of the old staff jobs to make sure they got through Christmas and the New Year so they didnt loose out as much.
Shortly after I received a telephone call from Canadian Immigration informing me what I was doing was against the terms and conditions of my work permit. Basically, I will admit to: What I decided to do was wrong. The person who informed immigration was someone I knew very well and though of as a friend. However, I dont believe what I dont was morally wrong.
In May 2010 the building owner decided to close the business, up to this point in time I have helped working in the community, organized events and parties, employed Canadians and always paid my taxs and any other deductions required I have never, or will ever try to screw the system. However the face of the matter is I broke the terms and conditions of my work visa, and there is a chance I could get deported and sent back to England.
I have worked in the Entertainment industry for many years. DJing from weddings and birthday parties to the largest nightclubs and outdoor festivals in the world. I was asked by JUNO to be a judge for the 2010 Juno awards because they felt I was a specialist in my music genre. I accepted with honor, and I am proud to say I took part. I have remixed music which some has been released as official remixes to artists tracks and I have a passion for what I do. I dont have any true friends in England. Since I have moved to Canada, I have met so many people and became close friends with so many people that the though of leaving makes me very upset. I have built my life here in the (almost) 2 years that I have lived here and I have never been happier in my life. I want to continue to entertain people through both DJing and organizing festivals that I love doing so much. However in order to do that I need youre help.
Someday, sometime, the Canadian Immigration authorities will request me to go for a hearing when they will decide if I am able to stay in Canada or if I have to leave. As part of my case, I was recommended to try to create a petition that I will present if and when it goes to court.
I would only like people who know me, who I have met, helped or entertained since I have lived in Canada to sign my petition and help me to stay in this amazing country where I can continue to be happy but only if you completely 100\% agree to what I have said in this statement and agree to it.
I may not have done everything above board but I am a respectful, talented and honest person with talents in the music and entertainment industry is is YOURE country, and if it was up to you personally, would you allow me to stay in Canada.
Thank you to everyone who reads my petition.
